Madagascar

Madagascar belongs to the continent of Africa. The country island is in the Atlantic Ocean. The tropical rainforest of Madagascar is located on the eastern side of the island in low elevations which starts from a sea level of 800 m. The rain forests start from the north to the corners of the island, the southeastern side. Since Madagascar broke apart from Africa, it has acquired biodiversity and many endemic species because of its isolation. According to the WWF, "It is estimated that 85 percent of the island’s 12,000 species of flowering plants are found nowhere else in the world" ("Eastern Madagascar" 1).Madagascar contains many species and plants that can only be found here.  The rainforest's inhabitants are mostly mammals and the most commonly known animal is the lemur. This rainforest annually receives more than 100 inches of rain. Even though it is such a beautiful site it is one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet.
